Last year, GMYN supported over 738 disadvantaged young people with experience of care, unemployment, disability and other forms of social isolation to build confidence, leadership and social engagement. Following direct consultation, the young people we currently engage outlined they would like to access music-making activities and have the opportunity write their own songs and learn about music production. This is something we are unable to deliver through our existing funding so we are now seeking to raise additional funds to make this happen. If we are able to raise £5500 then we can engage 20 disadvantaged young people in new music-making activities, enabling them to write and produce their own music, songs and develop music videos, either on their own or as a group and showcase these to various audiences. The sessions will be delivered in partnership with GMYN and Memody, and will be based at a newly created music studio at GMYN HQ in Ardwick, Manchester.
